Dubai:  GEMS Education is thrilled to announce the appointment of Amanda Spielman, the former Chief Inspector of the UK’s Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services, and Skills (Ofsted), as Chair of its newly created Academic Council

In her new role, Spielman will guide the Academic Council, which is designed to act as a strategic advisory body. The Council will focus on ensuring that GEMS schools maintain global best practices in curriculum delivery, teaching methods, and educational standards, reinforcing GEMS’ position as a leader in private K-12 education.

A stellar career in education

Amanda Spielman, who led Ofsted from 2017 to 2023, is renowned for her transformative approach to school inspections, emphasizing the depth and quality of education. Her prior role as Chair of Ofqual, overseeing key reforms to GCSEs and A-levels, highlights her commitment to educational improvement. Now, at the helm of GEMS’ Academic Council, Spielman will leverage her expertise to enhance the quality of education provided by GEMS schools.

Council’s ambitious role

Spielman shared her excitement about the appointment, saying, “I am honored to join GEMS Education as Chair of the Academic Council. I look forward to working closely with the board and senior executives to support the continuous improvement and development of GEMS schools.”
